July 21, 2006 , Deerfield Beach , FL –PlatinumTV is pleased to announce the selection of New England Kurn Hattin Homes for its innovative, educational television series, Today's Family . The organization will be featured in a segment on “Leaders in Education Bringing Out a Child's Potential” in our Touching Hearts and Saving Lives Series.

New England Kurn Hattin Homes serves in-need or at-risk boys and girls aged 6-15 from families throughout the Northeast who are affected by tragedy and social or economic hardship. Most commonly, the problems are poverty, incarceration or substance addiction.

Kurn Hattin, founded in 1894, is a charitable, year-round residential home and school located in the peaceful Vermont hillside of Westminster , overlooking the Connecticut River Valley . Since its founding, Kurn Hattin has helped almost 10,000 neglected or abused children grow up to become responsible and productive members of society.

By providing a consistent and caring environment, Kurn Hattin's dedicated staff supports each child to do their best through trust, love, and respect so that they

may prepare to rejoin their families and develop into adults whose lives have direction and purpose. The program helps teach children to make appropriate choices and take responsibility for the consequences of their actions.

Students live in cottages with nine or ten others in their age group and one houseparent. Each cottage provides a comfortable family-style atmosphere with two or three children in a bedroom. House parents help provide the structure and support that each child needs to succeed.

Kurn Hattin's state-approved school for grades 1-8 provides a challenging academic environment. They are licensed and evaluated by standards provided by the State of Vermont Department of Education and Social and Rehabilitative Services. Christopher Barry, executive director, sees Kurn Hattin as “a role model for a society searching for ways to help children overcome the cycle of dysfunction and abuse.”
